JOURNAL TRIBUNE, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 2005 A5 Obituaries "BIDDEFORD Doris F. Girard, SANFORD Marie G. died Monday at Southern Maine Medical Center following a long illness. She was born Dec. 24, 1931, in a daughter of Rosario J.

and Rose Eva. Manseau Demers. She was educated in Biddeford schools. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1952.

On Nov. 22, 1954, she married Fernand A. Girard at St. Joseph's Church. She was employed at the former Webber Hospital and Southern Maine Medical Center for many years.

She was involved in various community activities including lifetime membership in the Biddeford Athletic Association, past member of the Biddeford Music Boosters, Association Des familles Demers, Maine Mineralogical and Geological Society and the Franco American Genealogical Society of York County. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, needlepoint, gardening, family and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Paul and Fernand Demers. She is survived by: Her husband of 50 years, Fernand Girard of Biddeford; four sons, Paul Girard (and his wife, Joyce) of Biddeford, Roger Girard (and his wife, Anne) of Rowley, Donald Girard (and his wife, Athena) of Biddeford and Marc Girard (and his wife, Joanne) of Buxton; two brothers, Raymond G. Demers (and his wife, Doris) of Biddeford and Richard L.

Demers (and his wife, Vivian) of Biddeford; one sister, Julie Grondin (and her husband, Robert) of Lancaster, N.H.; and six grandchildren. Gabrielle Nadeau Doris Girard Marie Normand Normand, 75, "The Penny Lady of Sanford," died on Saturday at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Portland on Nov. 15, 1929, a daughter of Joseph L. Gingras and Geneva Gerry Beety.

She attended the Hollis Center School as well as Bonny Eagle School. In 1948, she moved to Sanford to work in the Goodall Textile Mills and worked there until its closing in 1954. She married Andrew J. Normand on Jan. 27, 1951, at St.

Ignatius Rectory in Sanford. She converted to Catholicism and became a communicant of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. In later years, she was involved in the R.C.I.A. process at Holy Family and was also a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group.

She also worked several years at the Hickory Pit Restaurant and retired from H.D. Goodall Hospital after 13 years of service. She was known as the "Penny Lady of Sanford," a title she earned over the past 30 years for her involvement with collecting pennies for Waban Projects, Inc. She was preceded in death by one brother, David Beety. She is survived by: Her husband of 54 years, Andrew J.

Normand of Sanford; her sons, Michael Normand of Manchester, N.H. and David A. Normand of Shapleigh; her daughters, Rosemary Frank, Claire Normand, Kathleen Roy, Carolyn Normand and Anne Stone, all of Sanford; three brothers, Jovis Gerry of Old Orchard Beach, George Beety, Jr. of Linconville and Keith Beety of Springvale, three sisters, Georgie Provencher of Florida, Georgia Guertin of Sanford and Margaret Crowley of Waterville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Richard St.

Cyr FAIRFIELD Rev. Richard Edouard St. Cyr died Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Rectory in Fairfield. He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 12, 1940, the son of the late Sarto St.

Cyr and Exilia Dubois St. Cyr. His education started at St. Peter and Paul Grammar School in Lewiston and Seminary of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. After graduation, he went on to St.

Charles Seminary, also in Sherbrook. He also studied theology at St. Mary's in Baltimore, Md. He was ordained on May 21, 1966, by The Most Reverend Daniel J. Feeney, at the Cathedral in Portland.

His assignments started June 4, 1966, at Peaks Island in St. Christopher's. From there, he was assigned to many parishes throughout the state, including: St. Francis Parish in Waterville in Sept. 10, 1966; St.

John's Parrish in Rumford on Oct. 27, 1967; St. Andre Parish in Biddeford on June 30, 1970; Administrator of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Berwick on Sept. 3, 1977; temporary Administrator of St. Louis Parish in Limestone on Nov.

3, 1977; Pastor of St. Anthony Parish of Jackman on Jan. 13, 1978; Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary of Sabbatus; Administrator of the Saint Francis Mission of Greene on June 22, 1982; Pastor of St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent on Aug. 1, 1986; Pastor of Notre Dame de Lourdes in Saco on Aug.

1, 1988; Pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Lewiston; Pastor of St. Louis Parish in Auburn on July 1, 1998; Pastor of St. Augustine Church in Augusta on June 29, 2000; and Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Fairfield on July 1, 2004. He was also Chaplain of Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bert St. Cyr. He is survived by: Three brothers, Ronald St. Cyr of Lewiston, Raymond St. Cyr (and his wife, Anita) of Lewiston and Roger St.

Cyr of Lewiston; two sisters, Anita Breton of Lewiston and Sr. Rachel St. Cyr, R.S.R. of Old Orchard; two nephews, and three nieces. KENNEBUNK Esther M.

Haverty, 92, died Monday at her res- Esther Haverty idence. She was born in Lawrence, Mass. on May 5, 1912, a daughter of George and Minerva Saalfrank Scholes. She attended Lawrence public schools and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, Mass. She was a former resident of Leominster and Lawrence, Mass.

She served as a volunteer at Lawrence General Hospital for several years and was a member of the Hospital Guild. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lawrence. As a young girl, she and her family summered for many years in Harpswell. She moved to Maine in 1991 coming from Leominster, Mass. She attended the First Congregational Church in Kennebunkport.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Charles E. Kelley; her husband, John D. Haverty, Jr. on Jan. 24, 1989; and her son, Charles E.

Kelley on Sept. 28, 2003. She is survived by: Six grandchildren, Stephen E. Kelley of Sheldonville, Charles E. Kelley of Scarborough, Jonathan S.

Kelley of Buxton, Richard M. Kelley of Scarborough, Sharon Elaine Carleton of Needham, Mass. and Elizabeth Marie Kelley of Cape Porpoise; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Paul Lamirande SACO Former resident Paul Lamirande, 58, died unexpectedly Sunday at a hospital in Flagstaff, Ariz. He was born Nov.

7, 1946, in Saco, a son of Louis and Isabell (Remillard) Lamirande. He grew up in Saco and attended schools there. He was a chef in the military and served in Vietnam. He enjoyed landscaping, working on vehicles and motorcycling. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Mink in 1991.

He is survived by: His wife of 31 years, Roberta A. Morin Lamirande of Winslow, a brother, John Lamirande (and his wife, Sue) of Saco; a sister, Pauline Mason of Saco; a step-sister, Pauline Morin (and her husband, Lee) of Arundel; an uncle and an aunt; cousins, several nieces and nephews and several great -nieces and great-nephews. Walter Bissell LYMAN Walter K. Bissell 83, died Tuesday morning. He was born on Aug.

24, 1921, in Butler, a son of Harold R. and Agnes McLarkey Bissell. He graduated from Biddeford High School, Class of 1939. He was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II. He graduated from the Saco Lowell Apprentice Program for tool and die making.

He was employed by Saco Lowell Shops for 45 years. During his 45 years of service, he was a first class tool and die maker and retired as a foreman in 1983. He spent many years as the director of the Saco Lowell Softball League. He was a member of the American Legion in Alfred for 47 years and belonged to the Masons, Dunlop Lodge in Biddeford for 50 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling.

He is survived by: His wife of 39 years, Priscilla L. Orchard Bissell of Lyman; one son, Walter K. "Kenny" Bissell Jr. (and his wife, Kathleen) of Lyman; one daughter, Beverly A. Milne (and her husband, Scott) of Bellevue, one sister, Marian Danner of California; five grandchildren, Trisha, Scotty, Jennifer, Theodore and Timothy; two great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Doris Port HOLLIS Doris H. Port, 72, formerly of Biddeford, died Monday morning at her residence. She was born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Biddeford, a daughter of Jack and Hazel Provencal Neault. She was educated from Biddeford High School.

She was a homemaker. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and most of all, spending time with A her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by: Her husband of 26 years, Edgar M. Port of Hollis; three sons, Robert Simoneau of Portland and Rene Simoneau, Jr. and Richard Simoneau, both of Meriden, seven daughters, Rachel Simoneau of Hollis, Irene McDonald, Karen Lodola and Nancy Dontigney, all of Meriden, Paula Morgero of Shelton, Priscilla Mateau and Ann Marie Carbone, both of Biddeford; 27 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Lillian Kember KENNEBUNKPORT Lillian Bickford Kember, 79, of Goose Rocks Beach, died on Friday at her home after a brief illness. She was born on April 11, 1926, in Danville. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School, where in the band, she met Frank, her husband of 58 years. Following graduation, she attended hairdressing school and worked in that profession for many years. She and her family lived in Melrose, Mass.

Following retirement in 1984, they moved to Goose Rocks Beach. Her interests included sewing, playing Bridge and spending time with family. She was the president of the Women's Coastal Investment Group in Kennebunkport. She was an active member of the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise, where she served on the Ministry of Caring Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kember on Feb.

26. She is survived by: Her son, Robert Kember of Kennebunkport; her daughters, Joanne Gustin (and her husband, Michael) of Wilmington, Mass. and Karen Dombrowski (and her husband, Scott) of Cape Porpoise; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Jason and Nicholas Gustin of Wilmington, Mass. and Gregory and Eric Dombrowski of Cape Porpoise. Alice West SANFORD Alice C.

West, 92, a resident of Mayflower Place, and formerly of Kennebunk, died Tuesday at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Dorcester, Mass. on Feb. 22, 1913, a daughter of Maurice and Sarah Howes Cousens. She attended West Kennebunk schools.

She worked for the former Kesslen Shoe and the Hills News Agency, both of Kennebunk. She was also an employee of General Electric Co. in Somersworth, N.H. for over 30 years. She volunteered at the Old Timers Shop in Sanford and the Southern Maine Agency of Aging for over 20 years.

She was a member and past matron of the Madonna Chapter of the Eastern Star of West Kennebunk. She painted for a hobby and also enjoyed playing Bingo. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, William G. West in 1988: her brothers, George and Thomas Cousens; and her sister, Marion Cousens. She is survived by: Her two sons, Richard Bowley of Brookville, Fla.

and Robert Dennett of Annapolis, one daughter, Nancy Bowley of Sanford; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. THANK YOU GOD Say nine "Hail Marys" nine days, and ask for three wishes. It's unbelievable but true. A.M.D. Blanche Harrigan KENNEBUNK Blanche A. Harrigan, 101, died Sunday at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in St.

Bruno, Canada on March 1, 1904, a daughter of Arthur and Annabelle Charbonneau Robert. She attended schools in New Haven, and was a self employed seamstress, specializing in bridal gowns. She resided in Stanford, Conn. for many years and moved to Wells in 1971. She was a communicant of St.

Mary's Church in Wells and a member of its Sodality. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, cooking, gardening, reading and was a self taught oil painter. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, John J. Harrigan in 1971; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by: Her son, Kevin J.

Harrigan (and his wife, Theresa) of Fairfield, four grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Death BISSELL WALTER K. of Lyman, died April 19. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, CALEB JOSEPH of Biddeford, died April 17 in Portland.

Caleb Dion BIDDEFORD Caleb Joseph Dion, 8 months old, died Sunday at Maine Medical Center after a battle with a rare skin disease, Mastocytosis. (Lottinville) Nadeau, 79, of Goffstown, N.H., died Tuesday at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, N.H. after a long ill- ness. Born in Biddeford on June 19, 1925, she was the daughter of Joseph W. and Clarina (Gagne) Lottinville. She lived in Biddeford and in New Hampshire in Somersworth, Merrimack, Manchester and Bedford many years before moving to Goffstown.

She worked at General Electric Company in Somersworth, N.H. and Eastern Air Devices in Dover, N.H. for many years. She had also worked at several Vallee's Steakhouses in Maine. She was an avid knitter and was a member of Primetime in Manchester, N.H.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Nadeau, in 1998, and by a daughter, Diane T. Nadeau in 1996. She is survived by: A daughter, Priscille A. Petre of Hooksett; a son, Robert W.

Nadeau of Manchester; a brother, Joseph Lottinville of Marietta, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
