Opinion MaineSay Wednesday, April 5, 1989 9 Note on impotence story Dear Editor, Now that Terri Stanley has told us how to help the old man, I hope she will tell us how to help the old women. The old fellows tell me that their marriages are like living with their sister. Ernest Martin Lake Panasoffkee, Florida Phoebe, or not phoebe? Dear Editor, A nice side benefit to me from the ice article, March 22, is that I've received a letter from Amelia P. Willey, who lives in York. She liked the article, and also "I enjoy the whole paper! However, I doubt you heard a phoebe in March.

The chickadee make a spring call that says But when you hear a real phoebe later, you will note an inflection on the end that goes up and is different just take my word, and other bird lovers' for it!" Well, her word is borne out by Roger Tory Peterson in his Field Guide. It's great to learn something new, and I wanted to share it with readers who might also be interested. Would you like to print this along with my apologies for the error? Alice Wells Pittsfield EDITOR'S NOTE: The article referred to described the ice out spectacle at Sibley Pond. Nurses are important Dear Editor, To the nurse that thinks she is doing important work but wonders if others think she does: Yes, she is doing important work. I've been in hospitals a good six or eight times.

Each nurse was special to me. Lady, you keep up your good work of nursing. You all work hard and should be thanked. Jeannette Hill Lovell Timmy the talented cat Photo compliments Mrs. C.

Truman Timmy the Cat acts the doorman. Dear Editor, The above is a photo of Timmy, my cat, who is now eight years old. I am hearing impaired and have an attachment on my T.V. so if I am using that, I don't hear the phone or doorbell. Timmy alerts me by running to the door to the kitchen where the phone is, and back until I answer the door or phone.

This is nothing he has been taught he just does it. He has slowed down some with age, but is still a very active and much loved pet. Mrs. Clarice M. Truman Hallowell Remembering Flood 1987 Dear Editor, The day seemed quiet, no worry showed, Folks walked with ease as to work they did go.

Then, a mighty roar filled the air, As folks in wonder began to stare. The water raced, fear filled the day, Trees fell down, banks gave away. The river then was on its way, Folks were warned their homes to vacate. Some did not believe and so did stay. So on the water was rushing through, They thought then, now what can I do? The firemen, policemen, and friends so dear, Began to help 1 folks' homes to clear.

Folks lost their homes, and treasures so dear, Many eyes were filled with tears. The roads caved in, travel was slow, Folks were puzzled where to go. Bridges washed out while folks looked on, They couldn't believe they were really gone. The ones that were left were closed off too, No one was allowed to pass on through. Houses, furniture, and cars were swept away, There was no possible way they could stay.

But thanks to cops, firemen and citizens so kind, Many helpful ways they did find. The Coast Guards and National Guards their parts did do To ease their minds and see them through. E.K.
